Gabon is home to a bastion of unspoilt coastline and lagoon ecosystems and contains some of the longest stretches of natural and untouched coastlines left on the African continent. Gabon offers sport anglers some of the best estuary and surf fishing available anywhere in the world with a wide variety of game fish available both in estuary and surf locations.
We at Go Active Fishing are delighted to offer our guests a unique opportunity to experience great fishing in a safe and unspoilt environment with an excellent accommodation base located at Sette Camp situated in the Ndogo lagoon at the southern boundary of the Logango National Park.
The Ndoga Lagoon is one of Africa’s largest lagoons which drains directly into the tropical Atlantic and is home to aggressive jacks (whitefin and jack crevalle), giant African threadfin, African cubbera snapper, tarpon, Senegal kob, and Guinean barracuda all eager to attack a well-placed lure or bait. Many of these species grow to more than 50 kg. The estuary (by boat) and adjacent beaches provide unparalleled fishing suited to anglers who like to cast artificial lures or a combination of lures and natural baits and even flies when conditions are right.
The area adjacent to the camp has many wonderful features with the Loanga National Park containing many classic African wildlife species including chimpanzees, lowland gorillas, red river hogs, forest sitatunga, and various forest duikers and monkey species. Forest elephant and forest buffalo sightings on the beach are probable and bird enthusiasts will not be disappointed with the rosy bee-eater and African river martin particularly associated with the area
The fishing is strictly catch and release and as such supports a wonderful ecosystem allowing fish stocks to remain abundant and provide sustainability to our fishing.
The seasons are generally through the rainy season with the following species available from November to April
Tarpon - up to 200lbs
Jack trevally - up to 65lbs
Giant African Threadfin - up to 100lbs
Cuberra Snapper -up to 100lbs
The tackle required is dependent on species but a general rod of 10-11 ft with heavy spinning capability will suffice with 50-80lbs casting braid or monofilament of 80 - 150lbs.
Sinking stickbaits and subsurface lures are particularly effective. Specific tackle recommendation available on request. Quick drying clothing is essential.
We can accommodate a maximum of 8 anglers per week but smaller numbers can be catered for. All meals in camp are included (breakfast, packed lunch and dinner)
The fishing is normally very good in the period from April to November with the weeks which have heavy rainfall proving the most productive.
